Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India]: GIIS Ahmedabad U14 football team emerged champions of the first edition of the ARA Future League Interschool 2023 SMART tournament after defeating SGVP International School with a score of 2-0 in the final match under the captaincy of Jayshil Sompura.
The tournament is organized to encourage the future building of young footballers in the state of Gujarat. The tournament saw participation from several renowned schools in the city, but it was GIIS Ahmedabad U14 that stood out with its exceptional skills and teamwork. The team played a total of 25 matches, winning 24 of them and won the semi-finals with Rachna School with a 3-1 score.

The final match against SGVP International School was a nail-biting affair, with both teams giving their best on the field. However, it was GIIS Ahmedabad U14 that took the lead early on in the game, thanks to a brilliant goal by their star striker Shreshth Sharma, later awarded Man of the Match. The team continued to dominate the game and scored two goals in the match, securing their victory.
Speaking about their win, the Principal of Global Indian International School, Ahmedabad, Mr. Caesar D’silva said, “We are extremely proud of our U14 football team for their outstanding performance in the ARA Future League tournament. They have worked hard and shown great determination throughout the tournament, and their victory is well-deserved. We congratulate the team and wish them all the best for their future matches.”
The captain of the winning team, Jayshil Sompura, expressed his joy and gratitude, saying, “The tournament was extremely important for us as we were playing against all the best teams in the city. This tournament helped the team in developing a never-giving attitude even after competing with the toughest competitors. A special thanks to my school -GIIS Ahmedabad and Mr. Kshitij Jain for allowing us to represent our school and developing a keen interest in football.”
The tournament ended with prize distribution, where, Darsh Dewani of GIIS Ahmedabad won, ‘Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament’ adding remarks he said, “It was a tough competition and we all were under pressure before the start of the tournament but soon got the confidence back. It was a very exciting moment for me to be rewarded as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.”
The victory of GIIS Ahmedabad U14 in the ARA Future League football tournament is a testament to their talent and passion for the sport. The team has set a high standard for themselves and is sure to achieve many more milestones in the future.
