Gandhinagar, Gujarat: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel started the ‘Seema Bhavani Shourya Expedition’ – ‘Empowerment Ride’ of Border Security Force’s strong-willed women personnel from BSF Gujarat Headquarters Gandhinagar. From India Gate, New Delhi, the adventurous journey of these 35 daredevil bikers team has started on 8th March, International Women’s Day. These 35 bikers are to reach Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on March 30 after covering a distance of 5280 km from Delhi and passing through various states.
When the women bikers team of BSF reached Gujarat BSF Headquarters, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel wished them success and flagged them off for the next departure.
Shri Bhupendra Patel on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav being celebrated this year with the inspiration of Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi, described these women bikers as a leading symbol of women empowerment and strength, reviving the unity and integrity of the country. The Chief Minister attributed the success of the increasing participation of women in the defense sector and security forces in the country to the encouragement and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai.
He said that the participation of women in the country’s police force and central security force has doubled in the last seven years. The number was 1 lakh five thousand in 2014, it has become two lakh 15 thousand in 2020.
The ban on admission of daughters in military schools has been lifted and daughters are seeking admission in military schools across the country, he added.
The Chief Minister said that while the Prime Minister is determined to make India a self-reliant nation, this campaign for self-reliance will be successful only with the participation of the country’s women.
Referring to Mahishasurmardini Durga and Rani Lakshmibai, he said that the woman who is the father of the universe can take up arms and destroy enemies if needed.
Shri Bhupendra Patel congratulated these women bikers of the Border Security Force recruited as border sentry 350 CC Royal Enfield motorcycle riders for their unparalleled adventure and prowess as a motorcycle rider.
On this occasion, Director General of Police Shri Ashish Bhatia and Inspector General of BSF Shri Gyanendrasinh Malik as well as officers of BSF was also present.
