Empowering Karnataka’s Dairy Farmers: Arna Dairy’s Commitment to Local Growth
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In the heart of Karnataka’s rural landscape, Arna Dairy is redefining what it means to be a farmer-first brand. Rooted in an 85-year legacy that began as Pankaj Dairy in 1940, Arna has grown into a trusted name known for purity, partnership, and purpose. Today, it works with over 17,000 dairy farmers across Karnataka — particularly in Chikmagaluru, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mandya, Tumkur, and Davanagere — ensuring that every litre of milk collected uplifts both people and communities.

A Partnership Model Built on Trust

At the core of Arna’s growth is a deep respect for the farmer. Unlike conventional procurement systems, Arna’s approach is one of partnership. Every farmer is treated as a stakeholder in success, supported through initiatives that enhance productivity, profitability, and well-being.

  • Fair and Transparent Pricing: Farmers receive competitive rates, with premium pricing for high-quality milk and same-day payments.
  • Nutrition & Feed Assistance: Guidance and mineral supplements improve cattle health and milk yield.
  • Veterinary Support: Regular health camps and emergency care ensure livestock well-being.
  • Transparent Testing: Each milk can is tested for fat, SNF, MRCT, antibiotics, and adulterants — with results shared via SMS and digital passbooks.
  • Financial Empowerment: Through bank tie-ups and insurance linkages, farmers gain easier access to credit and emergency advances.

This integrated model creates a circle of trust — one that benefits farmers, consumers, and communities alike.

Empowering Women in Dairy

A growing number of Arna’s partner farmers are women — many of whom manage small dairy units alongside household responsibilities. Through self-help groups and training sessions, Arna supports women farmers with skills training, access to credit linkages, and community programs that help them build economic independence and become vital contributors to local rural economies.

Building a Sustainable Future

Arna’s commitment to local growth doesn’t end at the collection centre. With a new  state-of-the-art facility at KIADB-Kadur in Chikmagaluru, the brand is scaling up from 50,000 litres to 2 lakh litres per day. This expansion will directly employ over 500 people and positively impact more than 37,500 farmers in the region.

By combining traditional dairy wisdom with modern processing technology, Arna ensures sustainability — from farm to family.

Carrying Forward a Legacy of Purity

Founded as Pankaj Dairy in 1940 and led today by Keshava Rajanna and his son Dheeraj Keshav, Arna’s story is one of continuity and care. What began as a single dairy farm in Bengaluru has evolved into a model of community-driven growth — supplying not just households but also premium hospitality brands such as Marriott, Taj IHCL, and Hilton etc.

Through every milestone, one principle has remained constant: purity with purpose.

About Arna Dairy

Established in 1940 as Pankaj Dairy, Arna Dairy Farm Private Limited is Bangalore’s oldest family-run dairy, proudly rooted in Karnataka. For over 85 years, Arna has delivered fresh dairy products to households and premium hospitality brands. With a farmer-first ethos, Arna works with 17,000 farmers across Hassan, Chikmagaluru, Shivamogga, Mandya, Tumkur, and Davanagere, alongside sourcing high-quality buffalo milk from Cuddapah, Andhra Pradesh — ensuring purity, nutrition, and trust in every drop.
